anna is here!
anna arrived this morning around 12:40 at the grand rapids airport (august 30th, 2009). after we had all got accquainted we went out to lunch at logans and then headed home. i was so excited to finally meet her, i couldnt stop smiling all day and just thinking about all of the fun things we are going to do makes me smile even more. we didnt do much when we got back, we unpacked her things and looked through old year books.. and made some funny videos with the voice changer on my laptop. then my friend megan stopped by, met anna and hung around for about ten minutes and then we went down the road to my grandparent's house so they could meet anna. tomorrow i think i will take her for a drive around the town and then we will probably go to the school later at night so she can meet the other foreign exchange students.. then on tuesday we are going shopping!!! it almost seems that it hasnt happened yet and it will be a little different waking up in the morning with another person here but i am more than ready to start our adventurous year together!

it only took me but one hour, less even because of many interruptions.. by my mother of course.latest project
my latest project comes from the necklace i saw alexa chung wear on her new show it's on with alexa chung.. also inspired by a necklace called siena from DANNIJO jewelry (ironic, some people actually call me dani jo seeing as how my name is dani and my last name is johnson.)i gathered the materials from our school art room earlier today along with some other odd materials awaiting to be made into masterpiece jewelry that no one else will have, what a great feeling! be prepared for the out of the ordinary jewelry.. one will surely take pictures and post!

busy weekend
oh how i had myself one busy weekend. to start it off i had to work at the yearly danish festival held in greenville making sandwhiches consisting of lamb and chicken (other things on it of course) from 9am-9pm friday and 8am-7pm on saturday. the days were surely long but i had no problem with working them although i have to say for the first few hours on friday it was quite hectic for me, then things got better as the day went on. i also picked up a beautiful ring and pair of earrings while i was there, not much time to look for much else. ontop of the long lines and long days, the weather was not cooperative whatsoever. it rained mostly all day on friday and on and off on saturday making my idea to wear pants a smart one. all in all the hard work paid off, we had some unsatisfied customers only because that was their only perception of the day, but mainly happy go-getters enjoying the bargains and broiled, greasy foods. today (sunday) was also another long day, after getting the much needed sleep i did i woke up to find a house full of chores to do. anna let me know today that she will arrive at the grand rapids airport this saturday (august 30th) which means not only do we have but five days to finish the house, but also only five more days until i meet someone i've been waiting to meet all summer! we will have to see how the rest of the week goes, and one sad time coming to end for me and ryan. he leaves for college starting his second year at MSU.. i will be sad that our hang out days are coming to an end along with summer.. but the show must go on!

ahhhh, how excited i am that freja is in vogue russia for the clothing shoot! one of my very favorite models, so badass to say the least and how i adore the tattoo on her neck.. absolutely beautiful! not only does she keep it rough original in this shoot but also pairs the unlikeliest of garments together to form a masterpiece outfit. (oh how i would die for that feather skirt)

only a few days
there is only but about a week and a half left before the foreign exchange student whom will be staying with us arrives! her name is anna tholcke, and i am extremely excited to finally meet her. we've been talking back and forth between e-mail and some on the phone, she seems like a great person and i know we will have so much fun together. she is staying one year, or so we call it one school year and i am pretty sure she will be in the same grade as me. there are so many things to show her in the usa, i cant wait for our adventures to begin!!

the time traveler's wife
oh how extremely excited i am that the movie 'the time traveler's wife' is coming out in theaters today, not only more so excited that oneself gets to watch it with ryan tomorrow morning. i cannot wait, i've been anticipating this movie for almost a month! synopsis: henry (eric bana), a chicago librarian suffers from a rare genetic disorder that causes him to live his life on a shifting timeline, skipping back and forth through his lifespan with no control. Clare (rachel mcadams), has been in love with henry her entire life, she believes they are destined to be together even though she never knows when they will be seperated. despite the fact that henry's travels force them apart with no warning, she desperately tries to build a life with her one true love. based on the best-selling book written by audrey niffenegger.

this morning one was up quite early indeed, around 9:30am to be exact (it is early to me). right now we are having our house remodeled, so there are men here sanding and retexturing our ceilings which means that all of our household items from our living room and dining room have to be moved into the family den. also contemplating, what should oneself do today: work some until around 6:30
finish cleaning room
take two runs up and down the road (do many crunches inbetween)
get ready to stain upstairs floor

gradient tights
this is my new project, easy to do:
*white tights, water, bucket, dye
-mix dye in bucket
-damp tights in water
-dip tights in bucket
-hang in shower to dry (gravity will pull the dye to the feet causing the gradient effect)
-wallah, you have a pair of christian lacroix tights (without the price)
