newbie

there’s something inherently refreshing about newcomer marike le roux. whether it’s her south african roots or the fact that she speaks fluent korean, i'm becoming a big fan of her. after signing with wilhelmina late last year, she debuted at some of the hottest spring shows, including marc jacobs, alexander mcqueen, chloĆ©, and sonia rykiel. she must be doing something right as she booked sonia's spring campaign. and marike is not only getting noticed for her modeling abilities, but for her impeccable sense of style as well. She’s been featured on vogue.com for her cool off-the-runway gear. i just love when models are unfussy and effortless like marike.

facts

i've been absent from my blog, only because every once in a while i feel the need to take a break. the last few weekends i've went shopping, and have bought myself some amazing shoes as well as jewelry and other nick nacks. our garden has been growing like crazy, but it seems that as fast as it grows, weeds seem to grow just as fast. school starts in a little over a month, unfortunately. later i will show some pictures of the things i bought and maybe a video of my garden/yard but right now i feel like listing a bunch of facts that most people wouldnt know about me. well, here goes.

i'm afraid of vehicles seeing me when they drive past my house, so i usually hide behind something. i have two claddagh rings that i always wear. my eyebrows, legs and lips are my favorite features. seven pounds is my favorite movie. the funeral by band of horses is one of my favorite songs. at night, my favorite place to be is laying on my roof with a blanket. i'd rather wear a pair of heels than any other style of shoe. i have a major crush on timothy olyphant. i think most high school relationships are a waste of time. pomegranates and spinach are my two favorite foods. i love to cook. i meditate every morning outside when the sun is beginning to rise. i absolutely love yoga. my favorite place to eat out at is panera bread. teeth are one of the first things i look at when i see someone. i hate stinky breath. i love rings, i wear one on every finger. i wash my face every morning and night. i hate the dentist. i love to hike and kyak. my favorite tv shows are true blood and the bachlorette. i hate texting, and i think it is one of the biggest mistakes the world has ever made. i love playing sims, it's my addiction. ali michael is my favorite model. christopher kane is one of my favorite designers. my favorite perfume has to be between givenchy's ange ou demon and dior's cherie. i love playing with leeches at my work. my favorite animal has to be the koala. my favorite chapstick is burt's bees pomegranate moisturizing chapstick. my favorite pop is verners. and many more that, as of right now, i cannot think of but probably will once i publish this post.
beep. beep.

breakfast

this was such a delicious breakfast with grape tomatos, radishes, and the best veggie meat i have tasted yet. (the meat is a veggie, turkey patty from morning star.)
my stomach is smiling right now.

10 things i hate about you

I hate the way you talk to me,
and the way you cut your hair
I hate the way you drive my car,
I hate it when you stare
I hate your big dumb combat boots
and the way you read my mind
I hate you so much it makes me sick,
it even makes me rhyme
I hate the way you're always right,
I hate it when you lie
I hate it when you make me laugh,
even worse when you make me cry
I hate it when you're not around,
and the fact that you didn't call
But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you,
not even close
not even a little bit
not even at all.

i love you

i havent seen shoes this amazing in a long time, apart from dsquared2's spine shoes. these shoes are just so beautiful and exquisite. if i were able to get my hands on a pair, trust me i would. but unfortunately united nude, who partnered with iris van herpa to create them, is only producing 240 pairs.

GQ heaven

i went and saw eclipse for the second time, and it always seems to me that the more times you see a movie you like, the better it gets. i also noticed that during bella and jacob's intense kissing scene, kristen stewart kisses taylor back more than she ever kissed robert during the movie. maybe that has something to do with kristen and robert's offscreen romance as well? who knows. all i know is that when i picked up my july issue of GQ today, i fell in love. these are just a few of my favorite photos of taylor lautner. the rest can be found here.

fourth o' july

the fourth of july was a great time to not only feast on amazing food, but to connect with family. the fireworks, as always, were amazing and nothing could beat swimming-especially at night. the patriotism that was decorated on boats around the lake, and on people themselves, seemed contagious. although our indepence day is always colorful and beautifully celebrated, it is also recognized as our most dangerous holiday. cheers to living in america!

eclipse

i dont know why i bother saying that eclipse was amazing because everyone already figures that, but it really, truely was. and you can always tell that as the movies progress, they just keep getting better and better. and i also really enjoyed how close to the book this movie stayed, because i think that is the most important element. megan, daneal, paige and i all got to the movie theater at 9:20pm and waited until 12:05am just to see it. the movie theater sold out of tickets at 800 just for the midnight showing, but still people were coming during that time buying tickets for the 2:30am show. i recommend it be seen, it is extremely great. other than the movie i did nothing today except go see my dentist, go to work, go out to eat and go see the movie.

feet

i am really, really obsessed with comme des garcons feet shoes. i cant even remember how long i have been in love with them, and have since sadly forgotten about them until the other day when i, for the first time, visited my sister anna's best friend josefin's new blog. it is very nice, but although it is almost entirely swedish, my computer automatically translates it. anyway, her post where the wiktor was a blessing, and it gave me the greatest idea of making my own "feet" shoes! although i love comme des garcons shoes, i think that when i make my own they wont have the red toe nails... but i'll still consider it when the time comes. speaking of which, this weekend i am heading to good will to check out their shoes and button down white shirts; i could probably find a great pair of black shoes from $5-$10 at the most. i'm excited, they are both my new diy projects.
by the way, anyone who gets a chance and really loves fashion take a peek at josefin's blog.

hair

proenza schouler ss10
a major new trend that has been seen in many years past has gradually been gaining popularity. according to people in london's camden town, they preferred light pink and lilac colored hair like that of peaches geldof, dree hemmingway, natalie portman in the movie "proximity" and lady gaga on the cover of billboard. on the other hand, people criticized tavi gevinson for having a silver shade to her hair but at the same time fell in love with kate moss' temporary silver shade. i think it just all depends on the color of dye that should go with your hair color. i personally wouldnt mind having either a lilac or pink tint to my hair. i think overall this trend is very beautiful and very becoming.

national anthem

yesterday was anna's 18th birthday. my family and i called her house and suprised her with a happy birthday song, then thankfully we video chatted on skype for 20 minutes which i know we all needed. and this video, well i was feeling a little bored and wanted to spice up the star spangled banner. i love the low keys that my voice hits, and my never ending note holding at the end of the song. hooray.

LL

leigh lezark would be my only reason to become a lesbian, and fortunately for me that will never happen. but everything about her is just so mysterious and even though i've never met her, her pictuers just give off this vibe like she knows what she's doing. and she is a great style icon as well. her jet black hair, dark eyes and alluring look could capture anyone.

splatter

ink-spattered tops at dries van noten

it seems as though paint splatter has become the new tie-dye. frequently seen during men's fashion week, dries van noten and gaultier both flashed pants, knits and shirts covered with splatter. not only is this new trend capturing many with it's alternativeness to tie-dye, but it is also longed for because of it's rougher, more masculine edge that it brings. i wouldnt mind having one myself, in fact this is going to be my new project. i will collect a white, button down shirt and some darker paints (above) and i will hand paint it myself. as tim blanks reported, "the blotches were hand painted in couturiers in como."

photographers

the photographer's include paolo roversi, sarah moon, andreas gursky, gregory crewdson and cyril arseniev.

"In general , my pictures - a portrait . My nude - is also portraits. In each portrait the most important - it is the eye . I can not technically explain why the models look more deeply, more touching , more human , if the photographer uses a long exposure , but it is. I realized this, studying the experience of the earliest photographers , which, owing to technical features of cameras of that time were forced to use long shutter speed. And the portraits were much more profound and mysterious . " paolo roversi

"I do not like the color, it confuses me . I believe that the essence of photography is black and white. Color is a deviation . Except when it becomes void , unreal, as when shooting at Polaroid, or as in some photos, Paolo Roversi, where the color is smooth, quiet ... " sarah moon
